The Taylor Swift Book Tag: 1989 Edition #2

So on both the blogs and on booktube, I have seen the 1989 Taylor Swift tag doing the rounds after the album came out last year. Being a massive fan of Taylor Swift's music I thought that I would do the tag. I haven't been tagged by anyone but it looked fun. If you saw Wednesday's post you will know I have already done the Taylor Swift Book Tag but this is a different one with different questions. This tag was created by Reviews from a bookworm and you can find the original one here. So let's get started...

1. Welcome to New York - " You can want who you want, boys and boys and girls and girls"- A book with LGBT themes

Will Grayson, Will GraysonWill Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green & David Levithan- This book follows David Levithan's Will Grayson as he is trying to come to terms with his sexuality and befriends John Green's Will Grayson and Tiny Cooper.

2. Blank Space- "You can tell me when it's over if the high was worth the pain" - A book that hit you right in the feels... but was totally worth it

Eleanor & ParkEleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell- This book is my favourite from Rainbow Rowell but the ending does hit you right in the feels. I regret nothing...

3. Blank Space- "I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream" -A book that you hated but you loved the cover

Me and Earl and the Dying GirlMe and Earl and The Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews- I didn't hate this book but I did think that I would have loved this book more than I actually did. To me I think I like the cover more than the book.

4. Blank Space- "I've got a blank space baby and I'll write your name"- Your latest book boyfriend/girlfriend

Am I Normal Yet?Am I Normal Yet? by Holly Bourne- I love this book so much, it touched on feminism, mental health and had strong female friendships. This comes out tomorrow and I suggest you pick up a copy...

5. Style- "We never go out of style"- A timeless classic you love.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling- Since reading this series I know that it's always be in my heart.

6. Out of the Woods- "The rest of the world is black and white, but we were in screaming colour"-  A book which had vivid world building.

Delirium (Delirium, #1)Delirium by Lauren Oliver- I felt like Lauren Oliver did a good job in building this world by producing images of what the world should look like and know how it should be run, this is helped by the chapter headings which include bits that give context to the story.

7. Out of the Woods- "The monsters turned out to be just trees"- A book where things weren't exactly how they seemed.

The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1)Maze Runner by James Dashner- The Maze is just the beginning...

8. All You Had To Do Was Stay -"You were all I wanted... but not like this"- A book you were eagerly anticipated, but ended up being disappointed by.

Allegiant (Divergent, #3)Allegiant by Veronica Roth- After reading Insurgent I really wanted to read this book but it didn't live up to my personal expectations.

9. Shake It Off-"The haters gonna hate..."- A book/series that everyone seems to love but you can't help but hate.

Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)Throne Of Glass by Sarah J Maas- First off I have to explain that I don't hate this book but everyone's hype around this book didn't live up to my expectations. I did like this book but not as much as everyone else...

10. Shake It Off-A book/series you love but everyone else seems to hate.

Matched (Matched, #1)Matched by Ally Condie- People do dislike this series, especially as it progresses, but I do like this series more in contrast to most other people.

11. I Wish You Would- "I wish you knew I'll never forget you as long as I live"-  A book/series you know you will always love.

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare- It is currently my favourite series now and will be in 40 years times even if I do pretend that it is not...

12. I Wish You Would- "I wish you were right here, right now"- An upcoming release you wish you could have right now!

OneOne by Sarah Crossan-I have wanted this book for forever and the wait is not that long anymore...

13. Bad Blood- "Now we've got bad blood, you know it used to be mad love"- A character you once loved but grew to hate.

The Spectacular NowThe Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp- I feel like I hate on this book too much but at the beginning of this series I actually liked Sutter. However at the end I felt like any character development in the novel was undone and it left me disliking the character so much.

14. Bad Blood-  "Did you have to do this, I was thinking that you could be trusted. Did you have to ruin what was shiny, now it's all rusted"- An author you haven't forgiven for the things they did to your favourite characters/books.

John Green- We have all read The Fault in Our Stars, we know the feels...

15. Wildest Dreams- "I can see the end as it begins" -A book that was far too predictable.

We Were LiarsWe Were Liars by E. Lockhart- I wouldn't say this was very predictable but I do feel like there was some foreshadowing that could have gave away what happened at the end.

16. Wildest Dreams- "Nothing lasts forever but this is getting good now" - A book/series that you wish could have gone on forever.

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins- It's not so much I want this series to last forever but I want a lot more of the old Hunger Games as there are 73 previous ones that we know limited things about. We also don't know how Panem got created or what caused the hunger games in the first place. But after it the Capitol children have to got in a the hunger games so another book could be created on that so talked about it. I know however that Ms Collins wouldn't go back to this series.

17. How You Get The Girl- "That's how it works, that's how you get the girl."- One of your favourite books where they 'got the girl'

                         (SPOILERS FOR THE GRISHA TRILOGY)

Ruin and Rising (The Grisha, #3)Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo- People who have read this book series would probably disagree with me on this but spoilers I liked the fact that Alina and Mal get together in the series whereas else likes the Darkling.

18. This Love- "In darkest screams, in wildest dreams, I never dreamed on this"- A book that completely shocked you.

Breaking Dawn (Twilight, #4)Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer- I was really excited for this book so much for the fact that I preordered it when it came out in paperback but I didn't read it in full until last summer. The hype had gone down, and everyone in normal society hated this series and I was expected to be one of them but I wasn't. It shocked me because I actually liked this book when everyone hated it.

19. I Know Places- "Loves a fragile little flame it could burn out"- A book you thought you loved but quickly came to hate.

The Spectacular NowThe Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp- When I first started to read this book I thought it was something that I really enjoyed and the ending happened. THE ENDING!!! I hated the ending if you couldn't tell already.

20. I Know Places - "Something happens when everybody finds out. See the vultures circling dark clouds" - A book you didn't want to be seen reading.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)The Harry Potter series- I read this series pretty late meaning that I only read them in the last couple of years and being a reader and not having read Harry Potter means that I felt like I wouldn't have been cursed by the book community.

21. Clean - "The drought was the very worst, when the flowers that we'd grown together died of first" - When the wait between books made you forget everything that happened.

The Forever Song (Blood of Eden, #3)The Forever Song by Julie Kagawa- The wait between all the books was too large that I forgot what happened between all of the books. I don't often marathon series anyway so forgetting what happened in the previous books is a common problem for me.

22. Clean- "By morning, gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean" - A book/series you wiped from your memory.

The Vampire StalkerThe Vampire Stalker by Allison van Diepen- Back when I adored YA paranormal romance, this book had an amazing premise, about a vampire who came out of the story, but the outcome of this book just wasn't well executed. It was one of the worse books I have ever read and I wish I could forget about this book... I just hope that Between The Lines is better...

My Reading Tastes Are Changing

For the last couple of years, I feel like this has become a reoccurring blog post but I want to talk about it now because I think something is actually happening in my reading life. My reading tastes are changing. I've felt it for a while. I haven't really been drawn to YA titles that much anymore especially contemporary. Being busy in my time, I have been really selective in the books that I pick up so for me: the shorter, the better. And when picking up shorter books, the less likely they are to be YA. The more I am exposed to more books, the more I get to read books that I connect to Some of the books that I have picked up have really surprised me because of how much I ended up enjoying them. I think as I grow older, I am looking for different stories, different experiences and different perspectives. These don't just fit the YA mould. I also have been really into different genres like horror and the occasional thriller which have not read from before and I'm interes

Favourite Graphic Novels & Manga of 2021

As I have read a lot of books this year, I always want to give graphic novels and manga their own celebration as they often get overlooked and do make up a lot of my reading. I also find that even though I read a lot of them, it takes a lot to convince me and make it a new favourite. So here are my best... Heartstopper Volume 4 by Alice Oseman  Like everyone on the internet, I too am a massive Heartstopper fan and Volume 4 is no different. I love the relationship of Nick and Charlie and the side characters also make the series. This one also explores the way that mental health can impact romance and it still does justice to the story and does not fall into cliches. I am eagerly anticipating the final volume but I don't want it to be over.  The Impending Blindness of Billie Scott by Zoe Thorogood One of the last graphic novels I read this year and the one that has the second amount of hype, The Impending Blindness of Billie Scott also leaves a lasting impression. I love a good Briti

Book Review: The Great Godden by Meg Rossoff

   * I am reviewing this book which I was gifted for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own. * Title: The Great Godden  Author: Meg Rossoff Publisher: Bloomsbury  Source: NetGalley ( Bookshop UK |  Hive |  Goodreads  |  Storygraph ) Book Summary: Everyone talks about falling in love like it’s the most miraculous, life-changing thing in the world. Something happens, they say, and you know … That’s what happened when I met Kit Godden. I looked into his eyes and I knew. Only everyone else knew too. Everyone else felt exactly the same way. This is the story of one family, one dreamy summer – the summer when everything changes. In a holiday house by the sea, our watchful narrator sees everything, including many things they shouldn’t, as their brother and sisters, parents and older cousins fill hot days with wine and games and planning a wedding. Enter two brothers – irresistible, charming, languidly sexy Kit and surly, silent Hugo. Suddenly there’s
